Coop Estonia deploys Cleveron’s grocery robot

06.05.2020 | Cleveron, Cleveron 501

Coop is the first grocery store chain in Estonia to launch the Cleveron 501 grocery robot. The grocery robot, capable of storing fast-moving consumer goods and frozen food, is tested on the outskirts of Tallinn at Laagri Maksimarket. After a successful 3-month test period, the two companies will discuss further cooperation. Cleveron 501 offers a fast and convenient service for Coop’s online shoppers. Customers choose a suitable pickup time and receive a pickup code as soon as their order is ready. When the customer arrives at the grocery robot, they just enter the code and receive their items in seconds.

Cleveron 501 is used by a few grocery retailers around the world but Coop is the first to have installed it in Estonia. Cleveron’s CEO Arno Kütt stated that this partnership started in record time despite the current circumstances. Usually, negotiations could last months but this project was launched in two weeks. „A very positive example of how two big companies can be quick and flexible in finding solutions,“ added Kütt.

According to Coop Estonia’s E-commerce Manager Mait Mäesalu, the grocery robot has many advantages. „The capacity is twice as big and the loading process is much quicker compared to regular grocery lockers,“ said Mäesalu.

Cleveron 501 is a unique robotic click and collect solution designed to offer curbside grocery pickup in various locations. The grocery robot can store FMCG, such as vegetables or milk as well as frozen goods like ice cream. Thanks to the size and easy installation of Cleveron 501, it can be placed in easy-to-access locations for consumers, e.g. business districts or even traffic junctions. This offers a fast and convenient pickup option and brings grocers closer to their customers.

Cleveron develops innovative last-mile solutions for retail and logistics sectors. As a response to the current movement restrictions, Cleveron recently launched an easy-to-install outdoor parcel locker for SMEs, named Cleveron 351. The new APM gives smaller companies a chance to continue delivering goods even when brick and mortar stores are closed. Cleveron 351 offers many use cases. For example, it can be used to deliver online-ordered beauty products, electronics or building equipment but also to hand over keys, documents or rented items.
